In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in a lightly greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
While the meatloaf is baking, prepare the brown gravy. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Once the meatloaf is done, let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm, smothered in the brown gravy.
Notes
Serve slices of meatloaf on a plate, drizzled generously with brown gravy, and accompanied by mashed potatoes and steamed green beans for a hearty meal.
