Prepare Tofu: Start by pressing the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture. Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
Coat Tofu: In a mixing bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until they are evenly coated. This will give them a crispy exterior when cooked.
Heat Oil: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Make sure the pan is hot enough that the oil shimmers.
Fry Tofu: Carefully place the coated tofu cubes in the skillet, in a single layer. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy. You may need to do this in batches depending on your skillet size. Once cooked, remove the tofu and drain on paper towels.
Make Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, then add the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until well combined and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Glaze Tofu: Return the crispy tofu to the skillet and gently toss it in the honey garlic sauce, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to allow the tofu to soak in the flavors.
Serve: Transfer the glazed tofu to a serving dish, and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
